About LuxCalc
LuxCalc started as a spreadsheet.
As a French cross-border commuter working in Luxembourg, I had built myself a spreadsheet to compute Luxembourg income tax — mostly to understand what was actually happening on my payslip and to anticipate my tax return. Colleagues kept asking me for a copy so they could run their own estimates.
Instead of emailing a spreadsheet around, I decided to turn it into a web app: more interactive, clearer, and with more features than the original sheet allowed. That's where the idea came from to expand the project to other Luxembourg-related financial topics: pension, gross/net salary, financial independence (FIRE), exit strategy planning, cross-border remote work...
An amateur project, not a professional firm
LuxCalc is built by one person, on my own free time, with no commercial structure behind it. The calculators are built carefully, but they remain estimates meant to give you an order of magnitude and help you think through your situation — not professional advice. For any significant decision, you should always consult a qualified professional (accountant, tax advisor, pension fund, lawyer).
Who LuxCalc is for
The site is primarily aimed at French cross-border commuters working in Luxembourg, but also at commuters from other countries (Belgium, Germany) and at Luxembourg residents who want to understand their own financial situation.
